Approved in 2018 and launched in 2019, the Le Havre Seine Métropole Global Public Energy Performance Contract is a large-scale project aimed at renovating the metropolitan area’s building stock to improve its energy efficiency. The BMS component BMS being implemented by AUTESYS, an energy performance integrator active in the Île-de-France, Normandy, and Oise regions. For 20 years, AUTESYS has been developing its expertise in the remote management of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, lighting, and energy systems in residential, industrial, and commercial settings. The company has 30 employees spread across its various sites in Le Havre, Rouen, and Paris, including three people working full-time on the Le Havre project.

The project launched on behalf of Le Havre Seine Métropole is a major undertaking! It encompasses the MPGP project as well as an additional phase in the city of Le Havre, involving 300 connected buildings, including historic sites and public facilities (schools, museums, swimming pools, city halls, etc.).

The project's energy objectives focus on:

  • reducing energy consumption (gas, electricity, etc.)
  • improving user comfort
  • reducing greenhouse gas emissions

These objectives are to be achieved through three main areas of focus:

  1. Heating Optimization
  2. The implementation of real-time energy monitoring
  3. Centralized management of energy metrics (remote control – GTC).

Among the requirements to be met were the goal of equipping all the buildings in question by the end of 2020 and the selection of a non-intrusive solution that could be easily implemented in existing buildings without affecting their structural integrity, especially since some of the buildings were designated historic landmarks. In total, more than 1,000 Enless Wireless ambient sensors were installed in the buildings. To integrate the control optimizations of the 300 TREND controllers installed in the boiler room, communication is established via the MODBUS protocol with an Enless Wireless receiver that receives data from the Enless ambient sensors. In addition to the room sensors (temperature/humidity), approximately 200 Enless remote-reading sensors were deployed on various meters (water, electricity, gas), enabling real-time monitoring of consumption.

The data collected by Enless Wireless sensors and TRENDcontrollers is managed through a centralized monitoring system called“PanoramaE2.” This system enables remote optimization of the monitored buildings’ performance by adjusting energy distribution and system settings. It is accessible via a secure cloud platform.

The comprehensive plumbing work and the implementation of a BMS enable CRAM to meet its contractual obligations regarding heating, water, and electricity. Overall, the MPGP’s targets for heating are set at a 20% reduction in energy consumption by thefourth year, with 11% of that reduction achieved as early as thefirst year.

We were impressed by the reliability of Enless’s solutions and the accuracy of the sensor readings. Implementing the products was straightforward, and we have not experienced a single failure among the 1,095 sensors installed. We have decided to migrate all of our wireless transmitters used for energy monitoring applications to Enless Wireless products. Jean-Marc Eichholtzer, Head of Development at Autésys.
