Map of Average Temperatures on Réunion Island – 2018

There are regions where monitoring air temperature and humidity is essential. This is the case on Réunion Island, where temperatures can rise to over 35°C all year round .

Enless Wireless solutions are currently being deployed on Réunion Island through the operator Sigfox IO Connect which operates in the Indian Ocean.

Since late 2018, the partnership between Enless Wireless and IO Connect has enabled the installation of systems in numerous facilities, including several Leclerc stores , Crédit Agricole Réunion, Engen Réunion, and Mutualité Réunion, as well as social service institutions such as the Les Lataniers nursing home, affiliated with the Père Favron Foundation , which is currently the largest association on the island. With its twelve locations and more than two thousand employees, the foundation assists people in need, the elderly, and those with disabilities through various initiatives, including a meal service.

The Père Favron Foundation’s initial requirement for its nursing home centered on monitoring the temperature in its kitchens, particularly in its six cold storage rooms. Several Enless temperature transmitters with external contact probes were thus put into service and connected to the platform deployed by the operator IO Connect itself , with the aim of providing a simple data collection and alert system, enabling regular, rapid, and automated information in the event of a temperature rise. Historically, temperature readings were taken manually, which placed a significant burden on staff and resulted in lower safety due to the infrequent nature of the checks.

“We are very satisfied with the service, particularly because of the quick and efficient installation and the fact that the sensors are discreet and blend in well, says Bruno Doki Thonon, catering manager at the Père Favron Foundation.

This satisfaction was confirmed on December 31, 2018, when Mr. Doki Thonon received an alert about an abnormal temperature rise in his cold storage rooms, following the shutdown of one of his electrical systems. Thanks to the performance and reliability of the Enless sensors, as well as the rapid and automated transmission of information, the Foundation was able to transfer the more than 1,500 meals prepared for New Year’s Eve and start the new year on a positive note!

IO Connect now plans to roll out the solution to other institutions within the foundation that wish to expand the service.
