The CIEC, a subsidiary ofENGIE which has been active for nearly 60 years in the installation, operation, and maintenance of thermal equipment, primarily in the Île-de-France region, has been incorporating Enless Wireless monitoring solutions into its service offering since 2015.*
This successful collaboration is part of a Data Plan. It enables CIEC to monitor energy consumption and indoor air quality within the facilities of its clients, including landlords, local governments, and other public agencies.
CIEC acts, in particular, as an integrator and operator for the Île-de-France Regional Council, Paris Habitat, Toit et Joie (part of La Poste Group), the Compagnie Parisienne de Chauffage Urbain (CPCU), the CROUS network, the Régie immobilière de la ville de Paris (RIVP), ICF Habitat la Sablière (the housing subsidiary of the SNCF Group), and the Hauts-de-Seine middle schools.
The energy performance contracts implemented by CIEC within the aforementioned facilities are designed to achieve energy savings, particularly in the heating sector. The monitoring solutions deployed incorporate several Enless Wireless temperature and humidity transmitters that communicate via the Sigfox network to a dedicated cloud, which stores the transmitted data and makes it available to the data visualization and analysis system powered by the CIEC Action monitoring platform developed by the CIEC (see diagram below).
By monitoring ambient temperature data, CIEC ensures compliance with contractual temperature ranges. Since 2017, CIEC has deployed a total of nearly 570 Enless Wireless ambient temperature transmitters.
In addition to these installations, there are about fifteen Enless temperature transmitters with contact probes were installed on the boiler and domestic hot water systems in certain facilities. A few sensors were also dedicated to cold chain management in food service facilities such as cafeterias.
About fifty Pulse transmitters for pulse meters have also been deployed, including some ATEX-certified Pulse transmitters, for gas meter reading applications.
What are the results?
“The systems for continuous ambient temperature monitoring have reduced our teams’ travel by more than 10%, allowing them to view heating data remotely and thus avoid unnecessary trips,” explains Bastien Peyssonnerie, Telecommunications Engineer at CIEC, before adding, “On average, for every 1°C saved, our clients see a 7% reduction in their energy bills.”
Manual readings have also been cut in half thanks to the installation of Enless Wireless Pulse transmitters, integrated with the CIEC Action platform.
