Equipment for 200 buildings

Installation of temperature sensors and remote data collection systems in 200 buildings using B-Eco Manager

Founded in 2012, B.eco-manager, a service company specializing in energy management systems—monitoring energy consumption and improving the energy performance of buildings—supports its clients through every stage of the energy performance process.

Operating throughout France and in parts of Switzerland, the company’s services include remote meter reading and the control of HVAC systems (air handling units, etc.), with the goalof achieving energy savings and improving comfort in the commercial sector: local government buildings, retail stores, gyms, schools, city halls, and more.

B.eco-manager offers a comprehensive solution that includes a native web application designed for real-time user control.

Control of HVAC systems through remote monitoring provided by Enless transmitters

To effectively monitor the technical equipment installed at its clients’ sites in real time, B.eco-manager incorporates a remote data monitoring solution for its equipment.

“We naturally turned to Enless Wireless’s Wireless M-Bus range for the IoT component. Our teams prefer Modbus, and they are fully proficient in integrating products from Enless Wireless’s 169 MHz Wireless M-Bus range. Installation is straightforward. says Alban Regaire, CEO of B.Eco-manager.

Enless Wireless ambient temperature sensors add value by providing targeted temperature data for each room or space, which is systematically combined with data from remotely read energy meters via Enless Wireless’s Modbus energy meter transmitters. The addition of this ambient temperature data then allows for the automatic averaging of meter readings, thereby improving comfort by enabling precise control and adjustment of HVAC systems.

In total, B.eco-manager has equipped nearly 200 buildings with Enless Wireless pulse and ambient sensors, which operate using the private, non-operated 169 MHz Wireless M-Bus communication protocol.

Among the projects carried out by B.eco-manager since 2012, 75 FNAC Darty stores in France and Switzerland have been equipped with 5 to 10 sensors per store (for ambient temperature and humidity, and remote energy meter data collection).

Energy data collection, visualization, alerts… toward a turnkey system

As shown in this diagram, data from the wireless transmitters installed on-site is transmitted via radio to the Enless Wireless Modbus receiver, which is itself connected via a wired connection to a Wago PLC.

Data from the transmitters is sent automatically and frequently, at intervals of 5 to 10 minutes at most, in accordance with the control settings of the existing HVAC systems.

Data visualization is then handled by the responsive Insight.b.Eco-manager software, an energy management system that provides information, performs analysis, and issues alerts.

Through this interface, it is possible to determine whether the control system is functioning properly and whether the HVAC units are operating in a coordinated manner and providing sufficient airflow to maintain the temperature in a given area.

Threshold-exceedance alerts are visible in real time directly on the portal; they can also be sent via email or text message. Insight.b.Eco-manager enables access management and includes an on-call schedule module, which will be featured in an enhanced version in the upcoming 3.5 release of the software.

What are the results?

This system has multiple objectives:

  • Compliance with applicable standards (indoor air quality in public spaces, energy-saving requirements, etc.)
  • The improved comfort resulting from better air quality for users
  • Energy savings of approximately 15% to 25%. For example, following the implementation of the system, energy savings of 25% were achieved in the municipality of Berthecourt, 15% in the municipalities of Clermont-sur-Oise, Fitz-James, and Thiers-sur-Thève, and up to 45% in Plessis-Belleville.

And what about the future?

The Oise Energy Consortium has decided to implement energy management systems over the next 3 to 5 years. B.eco-manager has been selected to assist the consortium, in partnership with Enless Wireless for the IoT component, in carrying out this project.
